In 2020, With a $58,000 grant from Impact Las Vegas, Foster Kinship will open a drop-in wellness and respite center as a new service, serving over 600 children with over 8,320 hours of respite care. There is no such drop-in center available in Las Vegas, and respite care is extremely limited in Nevada. Respite will be free and offered exclusively to kinship caregivers in their Navigator Program. Respite care would be offered Monday-Saturday, including evenings, for no more than 4 hours at a time while caregivers get needed rest. Respite can be utilized as needed, up to once a week, to provide that “light at the end of the tunnel” for tired grandmothers and other relatives.
