Friend FAQ's

How does Impact Las Vegas pay for administrative operating costs?

As a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Nevada, Impact Las Vegas is committed to keeping administrative and fundraising expenses low.  We have no paid staff members.  We keep our overhead costs low by using an all-volunteer staff to manage the organization. Members have the choice to become actively involved in a committee or as a board member.

Administrative expenses are covered by interest earned on the collective fund and by the second type of donation, Operating Donations.  Operating Donations may be made by members who donate more than the $1,000 membership donation and by Friends of Impact Las Vegas.

What is a “Friend of Impact Las Vegas”?

A Friend of Impact Las Vegas may be individuals or companies who do not meet the membership eligibility requirements and/or who donate more or less than the $1,000 level for full membership to the organization.

Can I be a member and also be a “Friend of Impact Las Vegas”?

Yes.  If you give more than the $1,000 membership donation, all additional money donated to Impact Las Vegas is considered an operating donation and will be used to cover administrative expenses.

Members may participate as a “Friend of Impact Las Vegas,” for example, as a “110% Member.” The additional $100 offsets necessary operating expenses, such as the costs for financial audit, insurance, website, mailings, etc. Members may also “double their impact” if they work for a company with a Matching Gift program, but pay their entire membership donation themselves. These additional funds received from a matching gift program will be designated as an operating donation.

Can I make an in-kind donation of goods or services and be a “Friend of Impact Las Vegas”?

Absolutely!  Since Impact Las Vegas has no paid staff members and we use member volunteers to manage and run the organization, we are always actively seeking in-kind donations for services and supplies such as stationery, printing, web site support and hosting, legal and/or other professional services.

How do I make an operating donation to Impact Las Vegas?

Just fill out the on-line donation form, write a check (payable to Impact Las Vegas), authorize a credit card payment, and/or provide contact information and an Impact Las Vegas member will follow up with you to coordinate donation of your in-kind products or services.

Is my operating donation also considered tax-deductible?

Yes, all donations made to Impact Las Vegas, whether they are membership donations or operating donations are tax deductible.  We are recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Internal Revenue Code 501 (c)(3).  We will send you a written acknowledgement of your donation for your records. Donations made by December 31st are tax-deductible for that year.
